ITVF in talks with Qufu City to bring TEQVOLY™ events to the historic ’Heart of China’

Mr. Istvan Dobrei, Secretary General of the International Table Volleyball Federation (ITVF), met with the Mayor of Qufu City to explore the possibility of hosting official TEQVOLY™ events in one of China’s most culturally significant locations. The discussions focused on utilizing Qufu’s unique heritage and infrastructure to introduce the sport to new audiences and create a platform for regional development and international engagement.

Qufu, widely known as the birthplace of Confucius, blends deep historical roots with a growing focus on modern sports and tourism. This makes it an ideal setting for hosting TEQVOLY™—a dynamic, inclusive sport that thrives on community participation and cultural exchange.

“Qufu offers a unique blend of tradition and modernity, which fits beautifully with the spirit of TEQVOLY™,” said Mr. Dobrei. “We’re excited about the potential of bringing our sport to this iconic city and creating memorable events that unite sport, culture, and community.”

The Mayor of Qufu expressed strong interest in the proposal, emphasizing the city’s openness to new sporting initiatives that can complement its cultural appeal. Discussions included potential venue options, event formats, and collaboration with local schools and universities to grow grassroots participation.

As part of ITVF’s expanding efforts across China, the visit to Qufu highlights the federation’s commitment to reaching diverse regions and partnering with forward-thinking cities to elevate the presence of table volleyball.

With local enthusiasm and historical charm on its side, Qufu is now on the radar as a potential host city for TEQVOLY™ competitions—offering a stage where the past and future can meet through sport.
